Daniel and Karah Busby

We are happy to announce that our family will once again grow...this time through adoption! When we first heard God's whisper, we weren't sure what it would look like. We've prayed and listened for His guidance, and the calling on our hearts is now clear. We will be partnering with someone in pregnancy on our journey towards infant adoption. We don’t yet know the child God has picked for us, but we are excitedly taking steps towards bringing our baby home.

At this early phase, there are two ways you can support our family. Recognizing the emotional stress of adoption, our first hope is that you’ll pray with us. More specifically, please pray for the preparation of our hearts and minds, for our process of getting certified and approved to adopt, for our future child to be born healthy, as well as prayers for the woman carrying our child, and those involved with delivering our child into the world.

The second way to help us is by supporting our fundraiser, Pressing Needs. It is no secret that adoption can be expensive, so we will be pressing apples to make fresh cider in hopes that you’ll consider coming to our event to participate in kids’ activities, a bake sale, and to enjoy samples of our fresh cider. The proceeds of the cider donations will help to alleviate some of the financial burden we’re now addressing, and we’d like to thank you in advance for your care.

Though the obstacles in front of us seem large, we couldn't feel more blessed to have such a great community of support. As we share our pressing needs along the way, we feel such comfort knowing God has already made provisions, by bringing you into our lives. Thank you for walking along side us!

Mike and Katy Johnston

Mike and Katy both grew up in Estacada, Oregon. They began dating in 2003 and were married in January, 2005. Adoption is something that has been important to each of them since before they were married. By God's grace, the Johnston family has expanded to include three biological children; Brittan (11), Elias (10), and Madison (8). Over the past couple of years, Mike and Katy's passion for adoption has spread to their three children.

The Johnstons began pursuing adoption through foster care in the state of California, where they had moved so Mike could attend seminary. About 6 months into that process, the Lord called Mike to pastor a church in Gresham, Oregon (Pleasant Home Community Church). While they were excited to move back to the Pacific Northwest, they were saddened to have adoption put off even longer.

The time has finally come! Once they got settled into their new home and community, they again set their gaze toward adoption, this time to a little boy in South Korea named Micah. Their daily prayer as they wait for all of their paperwork to be processed by South Korea, is that God would prepare each of them to have Micah in their home and that God would daily be preparing Micah to be part of the Johnston family. Lord willing, Micah should be home by spring of next year.
